ex-NB class J37 0-6-0 no. 64585 lies adjacent to the coaling tower at Dunfermline shed in this undated scene.  The J37's

were a superheated development of the class J35's.  Both classes were designed by W. P. Reid Locomotive

Superintendent of the North British Railway between 1903 and 1919.

Also on September 12, 1959 ex-NB class J35 no. 64480 is pictured just outside the main building at Dunfermline shed.

And of course no series of images of Dunfermline shed would be complete without a view of our old friend

Class Y9 0-4-0ST no.68101.  This image dates from September 12, 1959.  I'd dearly like to get my hands on a

photo of this locomotive in steam preferably at an off-shed location.  Can anyone help?

Taken from the other side of the track from the image above we see ex-NB class N15/1 0-6-2T no. 69202.  Designed

by Reid these locomotives were introduced in 1910.  A class variant, the N15/2 was designed specifically for banking

duties on the fearsome 1 in 42 Cowlairs incline.  Cowlairs incline is faced by trains departing Glasgow Queen St. station.
