Not a general view of Dunfermline shed in 1962 as originally captioned.  Thanks to Steve Griffiths for pointing out that

this is actually a view of Thornton Junction shed.  In this west facing view the ill-fated Rothes Colliery and the main line

to Cowdenbeath lie out of frame to the right.  Being prepared for duty and facing the camera is class B1 4-6-0 no. 61118.

A 1962 view looking the east across Dunfermline shed.  Included in the view is BR Standard 4MT 2-6-0

no. 76110, a couple of 4-6-0 B1's and several ex-WD 2-8-0's.  Barely visible to the right of the picture is

one of the floodlight pylons at East End Park, home of the mighty Dunfermline Athletic.

In another view from 1962 ex-WD 2-8-0 no 90575 is on shed awaiting its next turn of duty.

Another view from 1962, this one features ex-NB class J88 0-6-0T no. 68346 a member of a 35-strong class first introduced in 1904.

Class Y9 0-4-0ST no.68101 would appear to have literally reached the end of the line!  It has been condemned

and shunted into a corner of the shed minus its connecting rods.  The wagon to the left was permanently

attached and used to supplement the very limited coal carrying capacity of the locomotive.

 Another view from 1962.
